The Next Picture Book Deep Dive

Writing a picture book is as much an art form as creating the illustrations. It’s even been said that they’re the hardest books to write because you have to say so much in so few words. There’s no room for error. Fortunately, our Illustration Co-Ordinator, Sarah LuAnn Perkins (author-illustrator of ON A RAINY DAY), will be leading a fun but intense picture book workshop this Saturday at the Guilderland Library. You’ll pick a picture book. You’ll study it. You’ll mentally tear it apart. And then you’ll find out what makes it worthy of being published as you realize everything the author and illustrator did correctly.

There’s also a bonus. If you’re worried your manuscript isn’t yet strong enough to apply for our annual Falling Leaves Master Class, which this year focuses exclusively on picture books, this is your chance to learn tricks and techniques to make it better before you submit (Deadline: May 31st).
